The newborn stage lasts approximately two weeks. That is the window when babies sleep deeply enough to curl and pose, when their skin still has that extraordinary newness, when the whole world outside the family is still held at a distance. After that, they begin to change rapidly - growing, becoming aware, becoming someone distinct from the mysterious creature who arrived so recently. Newborn photography exists to hold that window. At Lens Lyric Photography, we approach newborn sessions with the same care and attention we bring to weddings and cultural ceremonies. This is precious time, and we do not take it lightly. The Newborn Session Most newborn sessions take place in your home or in our studio. Home sessions have a particular warmth - your baby in the environment that will be their whole world for the coming months, surrounded by the objects and light of the space your family has made together. Studio sessions allow for more controlled lighting and a wider range of backdrops and setups. Sessions typically last two to four hours. Newborns set the pace. We work around feeding and sleep schedules, and we never rush. The images we create are gentle, warm, and focused on the connection between your baby and your family. For South Asian families, we also incorporate cultural elements into newborn sessions - traditional clothing, heirloom jewelry, meaningful objects from the family's heritage. We have photographed namkaran ceremonies, the first outing, and the annaprashan first rice feeding. These are moments we are uniquely equipped to document with cultural understanding and visual care. When to Book We recommend booking your newborn session during your second trimester. Newborn photography is in high demand and the timing window is narrow. Booking early ensures we can schedule your session within the first two weeks after your due date, when conditions are ideal. Contact Lens Lyric Photography to reserve your newborn session. We would be honored to document the very beginning of your baby's story.
